Amy Fenton

My name is Amy Fenton , I graduated high School from New Philadelphia. I graduated with my undergrad degree form Ohio University, where I received my BFA in Graphic Design with a Minor in Art History. I ran track for coach Banton and played Rugby for the BOBCATS!! I encountered a major injury while qualifying for the national traveling team in Rugby. I lost my left ankle. It kept me sidelined for a long time, during the long road to recovery I went back to school for my Masters in Art Education from the University of Akron.

While I was completing my degree, I had the great pleasure to be a Grad Assistant for Coach Campbell in track and cross country, both the coaches I had the opportunity to be under were All-Americans for their schools they coach. I was trying to figure out what to do physically, because I was told road miles wasn’t a good idea for my ankle, so I decided to start Cardio Kickboxing, which lead to teaching kickboxing for about 3 years and competing in kickboxing for 2 years. I had a great time but decided I liked my teeth and need my hands for art.

This transition has lead me to Triathlons, I am new at the experience, this in only my second year competing. I am having a great time learning and competing. I am so glad to be part of Team ER. I look forward to learning from everyone. Besides from competing, I am an art teacher for Chagrin-Falls, where I coach Cross Country and track, but live in Tallmadge. I show my art in Cleveland, I make stained glass doors and cabinets. I also volunteer at the Greater Akron Humane Society where I am a member of the volunteer training team and Canine Crew where I help train the dogs. I spend most of my summers traveling to wonderful places.

On a competing milestone, I competed in my first marathon, The flying pig this year. I didn't break any records, but it was a personal triumph for me.
